I’ll be the first to admit that I use Twitter way too much. I use it when I’m on my desktop, on my laptop, or even when I’m on my travels (thanks mainly to my unlimited text phone contract). It’s almost become a compulsion to tell people what I’m doing, or even just briefly go onto the site to see what is happening with the people I follow, or have a brief conversation with someone through @replies. It’s also become a platform for people to advertise products, and sustain customer relations on a relatively new medium. Let’s face it; everyone can type 140 characters into a keyboard (even if it’s just with one finger on one character at a time), and almost everyone has a phone that is capable of sending text messages, or browsing something reminiscent of the internet. Therefore, almost everyone is capable of having a Twitter account and using it, although not to the degree that a lot of people do, myself included.
But the question that I feel needs to be asked is ‘With Twitter’s success, is it taking over other, more established services and mediums?’
