SUPER AWESOME AB09 ROUNDUP POST.

I thought I would get a round-up post in place, to take the three entries that I already have off the featured list; they’re clogging it up.

Stop. Bullet Time.

Posts

  • Day One – Pre-Registration and Waiting Around
  • Day Two – The only day I really got to see anything other than the Main Events
  • Days 3 & 4 – The Work Day and the Half-Day. Both days we had transport problems

Sorry if you guys expected more photos. That’ll be next year, if I come next year; it was more a convenience of being able to go, rather than a criterion of where I went for my hols. Next year I won’t be volunteering, I know that much.

AMVs

Ashley is big into AMVs; she just loves them, so when we were put on line duty for the AMV contest, I knew we were going to take advantage of the perk of being a volunteer and go in. So here’s my selection of the AMVs from the contest.

NOTE: Most of the links go to AMV.org, which requires a sign up. It’s worth it, especially to see these.

Miscellaneous

Enjoy! I hope I’ll be back for next year.

Anime Boston: Days 3 & 4

Day three (Saturday) was the hardcore working day for me. I managed to get a good six hours done that day, and it was awesome to actually get that much done. Granted, we would’ve had more time had we taken public transport (sidenote: Commute Rail and Green Line was our route), compared to taking the car, we would’ve had a lot more patience that day. It wasn’t good when we were asking people for directions. Day 3 was Masquerade Day, and it showed; we had the queue going all the way down to the first floor, and often had lines having to double-back on themselves just to accomodate the sheer amount of people that wanted to watch. As much as I wanted to take a load of pictures, photography was forbidden in the Masquerade. I know others managed to get some, but being a volunteer, not only did I want to avoid having my hours dropped etc, I also wanted to set a bit of an example.

I helped out with bag stuffing (a.k.a. adding to the massive corporate bull-pile of leaflets), and handing out the stuffed bags. My fingers hurt from all the folding of paper two days after, but that’s because I was trying to keep up with demand; there were few volunteers. And then we were helping with the line for the Masquerade, for which we were given great seats on the balcony, only after Steve gave the personnel there what for. I was not best pleased, but it worked out in the end. Ashley enjoyed it much more than I did, I’ll admit. A lot of the cosplay skits were in-jokes; you had to know the anime, and being so unseasoned I hardly got any of them.

Still, it was fun. Day four (Sunday) was more a formality. We were both so exhausted from the previous day’s travelling issues, and that day’s travelling issues (Google Maps doesn’t know Boston at all), we were just so tired and stressed out that we just got our free swag and left. We got a bag, a badge, and a t-shirt. I was with Ashley; I was more interested in the shirt than anything else, but Peter ladened us down with the rest of it. Awesome awesome Peter. :] Look at the pictures below for more.

Final Picture Tiem.

Anime Boston: Day 2

So today was the first real day of Anime Boston, and I have to say that I was amazed by the sheer amount of people that had come in. I even met a teacher that had brought a group of his students to the convention! I wish I had teachers that awesome.

So, yesterday’s activities were pretty cool; got my ass kicked in Soul Calibur IV to start things off. It was a close match, but I couldn’t fight this guy off, I didn’t mind losing to someone of that skill. I wanted to take part in the Tournament that was being held, but after that, I wasn’t too confident in my abilities. Ashley found me and we went down to the Artists’ Alley, where I met one of her artist-type friends, Vicki (DevArt and Flickr). The Alley itself was apparently bigger than last year, and I can believe it; it was freaking massive! Then, after doing a volunteer job (running meals to everyone; not a happy game when you have to stand in line, then wait to be served) we went to the Dealer’s Room. Once again, fucking massive. Without a doubt, I could’ve spent my entire moneys in there. But I decided against it. I’ll do some of that today, probably. They were showing stuff for the new Fire Emblem game, Shadow Dragon, so I’m going to see if I can grab some assets on that for TPG today; it was only one stand, and hardly any staff were there.

I caught a few bad photos of good cosplayers, including one particularly awesome Master Chief and Ovan from .hack//G.U., but then it was time to get back to work. Handing out leaflets, and then watching AMVs. Good stuff, an hour gone easily, and I saw some awesome ones; I’m going to try to find the links today.

Anyway. TIME FOR PICTURES~.
