We're meeting G over /there/.

I’ve been a very busy boy this week.

First off, is the obvious. I’ve upgraded the look on my site. And it is a massive upgrade. As I said in the previous entry, as good as Church is, the way I wanted to present my blog entries, twitter feed, photos, and other such things left me with the whole site looking really cluttered. Although I had easy access to a potential-twenty articles, it doesn’t make the site look all too pretty. This theme, Irresistible, has changed that, and also puts my general activity at the forefront of the site rather than my blogging, while still giving readers the ability to check the ‘About’ and view my (something resembling a) portfolio with one click. The theme allows me to use excerpts, although I’m not sure whether I want to start messing with that just yet. Continue reading ‘We're meeting G over /there/.’

May I introduce Exhibit D; KAECY.US, 4th version.

Yes, I decided to have another go at editing themes. Yet this time, I chose one that was pretty much easy to edit. The coding on the back end isn’t that good looking, but it certainly seems to get the job done. The reason for the change was that the Church theme, albeit a great theme to it’s own merit, it was one that, with what I wanted to do, got very cluttered very quickly. The image bullet-points were pretty bad. So, I decided to go with a theme that focuses on other activities away from the blog, like Twitter, del.icio.us (it’s not delicious.com, and I don’t care what you say. : P) and last.fm, among others.

The theme I have is called Irresistible, and is a free theme from WooThemes, it was pain trying to get the video section working, but a bit of hard coding has managed to resolve it for now. It’s a relatively new theme (it came out about three months ago), so the guides aren’t as plentiful, especially since the support section is held behind a paid-content firewall. Despite the theme being free, you have to pay at least $70 to access their forums. I could understand if it was the creators of the theme responding to each problem personally, but it’s not. It’s a forum. Ah well. It’s not like anyone can see how bad it is other than me, and I won’t be looking at it for a while.

The only addition that I had to make to the site was the Lifestream plugin. I had been using SimpleLife, but it was too basic, and didn’t have that good a backend for settings. It’s not a criticism; it was only coded for the creator’s site, and he just offered it up.

ANYWAY, this is a good layout, and one I will hope to keep for a while longer. At least this one doesn’t look cluttered. So, welcome to v4; the Lifestream.

What a Week.

This week has been a lot of highs and lows for me.

The biggest low, sadly, is one of a confidential matter and something I can’t put on my blog until it is resolved. Although I have been told that it will be resolved as soon as possible, so I will write about it then. Continue reading ‘What a Week.’
