Gifting tiem.

Yes, I know I’m late as all hell. Ignore that, and actually readplz. D<

December 19th was my 21st Birthday, and I honestly wasn’t expecting or wanting much. When I thought about it, it just didn’t have the stigma that my 18th or 16th had. Call me a sad-act.

So when I went downstairs at a god-awful time to do everything that was expected (feed the dog, cat, and let the chickens out [don't ask]), and there was nothing. I had genuinely forgotten it was my birthday so I just went back upstairs and went back to bed. Came back down, and the parents had placed everything out. I had a moment of ‘wtf’ before realising what day it was, and had the whole ‘Happy Birthday!’ treatment before actually opening the present that was in this small bag.

Look at the shiney-shiney!

Everyone that knows me, also knows that I’m not normally a jewelry person; I’m one of the people that gets afraid that they’ll lose it somehow, despite how something like a ring is virtually impossible to lose unless you take it off. But on this occasion, I was stunned. They’d gone for a signet ring; something nice and simple which could be engraved on in future. They gave me something special, and added the opportunity to add something equally special on top of it. Really nice, and even though I don’t wear it by instinct, I’m trying to get that way.

I also got £205, which I was not expecting as well. Mum and Dad threw a fat chunk of that cash in, and I’m probably still being subliminally reminded while I’m having my arm twisted into going out in this snow, but Aunts, Uncles and Godparents put a lot in there as well. So I finally gave in. I bought an iPod. 160GB Classic from Currys for £189. Got a few scratches on the back already, but I’ll probably end up doing some brushed chrome work on it if it gets a little too nasty to look at. All I will say is that I love the integration with iTunes, and the fact that it’ll just sync up all my podcasts without me even having to press a button is a big change from what I had to go to get them on my Sony MP3 players through FailStage SonicStage. I’m using my old GB Micro soft pouch case for it at the moment, although I do plan on getting something made for the iPod in the near future.

Christmas was a little more muted. With it being the first Christmas without Nana able to move and walk from her home down to ours, it felt a little weird. But with Nana getting a chest infection while in the nursing home and having been moved to hospital to get it cleared, Auntie Susan came down to see Nana, but ended up with us for Christmas Dinner because of the snow. More than happy to have her here though. Nice having someone outside the immediate family over for Christmas; it was getting to be a bit of a tradition to have a couple of friends or family over.

Christmas Haul 2009. :

I got Appleseed (the new 2004 CGI release), Appleseed; EX MACHINA (The sequel), Appleseed Vol 3 Manga, and the Watchmen Graphic Novel. I’m still into Masamune’s stuff, and I’m finding fascination more with Appleseed than Ghost in the Shell now. Watchmen looks like a great read; comparing it to the asian equivalent is a stark contrast. The US graphic novels have a lot more text and background information, whereas the asian manga is mostly about the art. But that’s obvious stuff. Parents also said that when it warms up and we can get my bicycle into the shop on the other side of town, we’ll get it fixed. I want to get fit again, and after the season’s gluttony is as good a time to do so as any.

I’ve got a few more entries planned, although they will take time. No change in theme for the New Year though; the themes that I was looking at wouldn’t work with what I want to do with the site; plus, Irresistible’s front page is something I would like to keep. Pity the bad coding lets it down.

Later~.
