Been a while since I did a cosmetic refit, and I’ve never gone back to a theme. Summary:
- Gone back to K2, although this time I’ve gone for a stable 1.0.2 version compared to using 1.0 RC7. There’s a few changes, most of which I like.
- Changed the logo drastically. As much as I like the ‘defused’ font, there was no way that I’d be able to reproduce what I had in any sort of template for me to use to make more headers. So I went with a cleaner font, with less effects, and it actually looks better for it (viera.nu once again supplied me with inspiration on the logo).
- Lifestream is still present, but on the sidebar rather than as a main portion of the page. As much as I liked irresistible’s frontpage, doesn’t change the fact that half the code was locked down, and the other half I couldn’t decipher properly.
In short, I cleaned it up. Not all the links are working right now, but the major ones (Blog, About Me and Archives) are working. I missed K2′s Archive’s page.
It’s 5:10am and I’m at the end of my tether with work. I’m not one for raging too much about work, but Friday really took it out of me. For the first time in a while I was genuinely stressed up. I shouldn’t have even been there, and the person responsible knows full well they should’ve been there. But really we both should’ve been there. It was an £85m Euromillions draw, while we were reworking all the cigarette display (despite in three months time it’ll all be under the counter), while we had three cages of chilled order, while it was a Friday night. For three people, I’m honestly surprised none of us blew up in each other’s faces. What really sucks is that I have another week’s worth of work before I get another day off. At least this one won’t have me up for a 6am start the following day.
Something else that irked me recently was the praise Mass Effect 2 has been getting. It’s not an instant GOTY. It’s set the bar very high for the year, I will accept that. But if Mass Effect 2 is Game of the Year, then it’s been a pretty bad year. We’ve got Alien vs Predator coming (I still have to play the demo even though I played the pre-release build at EuroGamer last year), and of course there’s Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver, the handheld behemoth coming to kids everywhere again. It’s a great game, but a GOTY shouldn’t have any major problems that can’t be resolved through genuinely expansive and rewarding DLC. The Mining. Oh dear God the mining. That shouldn’t have been in the game. Yes, they made jokes about probing Uranus. Yes, it was funny. No, it didn’t outstay it’s welcome.
Yes, I’m the lowest common denominator. I got a kick out of it.
I’m thinking of following Halycopter & Atheistium into the breach in March, with their oneaday Blog entries. But I don’t have the staying power to do it for an entire year. I think I’ll end up doing National Blog Posting Month instead. Doesn’t require as much dedication, and I can always go for the month after if I want to. My problem with these sorts of things is that I can never seem to find the content, end up making a lot of fluff and eventually come to regret it. We’ll see.
When I get home; Skyping Ashley, playing Aion, running Fight Club on Aion, and then bed for work. Again.
…Hell.
KAECY.US is the freshly resurrected blog of Allan 'Kaecyus' Bowden-Smith; an Aion nut with too much time on his hands.
