Better Late than Never

I know that this post was supposed to go out last night. I hit save, but I didn’t hit Publish. And then I fell asleep 15 minutes later and woke just now. So yeah. There’ll be another post later on today.

Well, that’s it. I’m free for a week, so I can take the opportunity to get things in order. I’m off until the 15th, which is a little shorter than I had planned, but whatever. I got a week off, so I’m happy with that. It’s paid, and I worked overtime tonight so that’s going to give me a nice extra bit of cash with the rest of my overtime from February that didn’t meet the cut-off point to be in last month’s pay.

I rented Bioshock 2 today, and I have to admit that I’m getting the deja vu feeling, but for all the wrong reasons. Sans the ‘psychic communication’ with Eleanor, it’s using all the same devices as the original to tell the tale, and the shift in tone of the game doesn’t suit this. There should be no pieces to put together; you did that in Bioshock 1. I like the tape recordings, and I listen to them all, but it doesn’t change that I get the feeling of ‘I’ve done this before’, and it gets a old a little too quickly. Granted, I should have the feeling that I’ve done this before. After all, my character was in Rapture ten years before the game actually starts. Wouldn’t it have been more apt to find some of Lamb’s research in form of video and watch that instead, with Lamb’s commentary? It would give the opportunity to flesh out her character more while still giving us the information on Post-Ryan Rapture.

But all this is with a few hours into the Single Player, and I haven’t even touched the multiplayer. I’ve got it for a week, and I plan on playing the Single Player to completion. The Multiplayer looks shoe-horned in, so I doubt I’ll be playing that. Bioshock is a one-person experience, in my opinion.

Tomorrow I shall get up late, and download program installers while I listen to podcasts. Then Monday will be installing Windows 7. Yes, I finally made the step up to 64-bit this time. Don’t judge me, I wanted some old programs to work. =x
