You're Weird, Shepard.

It felt so good to not have to get up at the crack of dawn this morning. I spent most of it just dozing in bed; I hadn’t anything to do and it was worth it. I just had to hit the ‘Publish’ button on last night’s entry, and I was free to use the morning for what I wanted.

Moar Bioshock 2.

I’m still getting the feeling that the storyline seems like an Add-On than a full on sequel. It feels like nothing was really added to it other than the changes of Weapons and Splicers. To be totally fair, the way they style the levels certainly warrants the separate title; their art style looks like it requires every building to be unique, and only duplicate tunnel sections (for obvious reasons), and the models for usable items. I feel like I’m not giving the game what it deserves, but it falls short of expectations. Perhaps it is because the first game is so long ago to me, and I was in that stage of just ripping through games and not completing them. Bioshock came out when I was renting, and had about half a dozen games to myself and no PS2 or Wii. It was fun, but I wasn’t looking for anything more than the next thing to shoot at. Perhaps if I played Bioshock again, Bioshock 2 would make more sense and have a larger impact on me. But then it wouldn’t be a good game; it would be a good sequel, and that is what the last paragraph has been about.

I’m a little disappointed, to be honest, but it’ll no doubt be an instant-buy when it drops below £15.

Spent the most of the remainder of the day burning through ME2 again. I switched down to Normal to just burn through it. I swapped out Samara for Morinth this time, just so I could get the Domination bonus power. And what a power it is. I know it’s only the equivalent of AI hacking, but most enemies only carry weapons that are good against shields, so to use a biotic barrier instead makes the possessed enemy a little more tenacious. That, and it’s satisfying to turn a Collector on it’s own kind.

Tomorrow is a nice, early start. Clear out the junk from my room, and install Windows 7. Add the necessary applications, and I’m golden.
