When I got started in gaming, my parents decided to get me a PC, which quickly became outdated. When I was getting my own machine, the technology that I could afford was outdated even quicker. Well now, I’ve got a new machine that actually holds up. With Vista’s deployment being in the latter stages, with Windows 7 on the horizon, I figured that now would be the best time to get a new desktop, although of course i typically missed the Windows 7 Upgrade program. I did this when I had my first laptop with XP, and of course I am still annoyed that Dell are only using it as a method to get people to buy desktops, rather than actually giving their customers value for money.
Still, it was on offer at a reduced price of £329 from £509, so it made sense to get it. The specs on it are below (skip if you’re not into technology. : P)
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+ (2.7Ghz, 512k Cache x2)
- 512MB Ati Radeon HD 4350
- 3Gb 800Mhz DDR2 Dual Channel RAM (1x2048MB, 1x1024MB)
- 500GB SATA HDD @ 7200rpm
- 16x DVD-RW
It’s a great machine for what I want, and it runs more recent games like L4D, DoWII and Red Alert 3. So I’m happy. I am now reminded of all the PC games that I have missed, simply because I didn’t have the computer to run them. I expect my wallet to be suspiciously empty for the next few months.
Just a quick entry, so I’ll give a quick picture.
