On June 30th 2009, The Pirate Bay was sold to Global Gaming Factory, after the sham trial that landed the Pirate Bay Four with a £2.1m cumulative debt, and a year’s prison sentence. Neither of these have been fulfilled as of yet, but the call for a retrial has been quashed, despite the fact that the Judge was biased. They now plan o ngoing to the European Court of Human Rights to try to overturn it. But in the process, they have managed to sell the asset for double their fine price (once in pure cash, and once again in shares in what The Pirate bay will become), and spawned a new idea called Video Bay, a la DMCA-Free Youtube.

I cannot use The Pirate Bay any longer, now that I know they could well be co-operating with the Big Four in trying to get money out of people downloading files out of Fair Use interests (ie alternative formats)
Thanks to 8bitpeoples.com for the music track ‘Icarus’
